It's been an injury-riddled year for Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones. After missing three games in the first five weeks with a hamstring issue, Jones has now missed the past two contests with a knee injury.
Jones injured his knee in the Packers' 23-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11. Green Bay officially diagnosed the injury as an MCL sprain and labeled the veteran running back as week-to-week. It's been 16 days since that gruesome injury occurred.
So, when will Jones be back? Will he be back in Week 14? Let's dive in.

Aaron Jones Latest Injury Update - December 7
Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones (knee) was back at practice on Thursday for the first time since spraining his MCL almost three weeks ago. The Packers have an extra day in Week 14 before facing the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Jones looked to be moving around pretty well during individual drills, but it remains to be seen if he was a full participant in team drills.
Either way, it's good progress and could put him on track to play this week. Fantasy managers could have a difficult decision on the 29-year-old this week if he's listed as questionable for the Monday night game. AJ Dillon has grinded out yards as Green Bay's lead back the last two games with Jones sideline, but he hasn't found the end zone. We should have a better idea on Jones' Week 14 status by Saturday.
Aaron Jones Injury Update
Since Jones suffered a sprained MCL on November 19, there have been very few updates on the running back's progression. The last update about the 28-year-old was on November 21, in which ESPN reported that he was week-to-week. So, it's hard to evaluate if he is close to returning or not.
In all likelihood, though, Jones will have to clear plenty of hurdles to play in Week 14 on Monday night against the New York Giants. Since injuring his knee in Week 11, the Packers' running back has not practiced in any capacity.
That means Jones will need to ramp up his practice activity during this week to at least have a shot at playing on Monday night. There's a chance that could happen, but the Packers will likely be extremely careful with their veteran running back, especially considering they are back in the mix of the playoffs.
Aaron Jones Fantasy Football Outlook
Injuries have limited Jones' fantasy potential this year. He's averaging just 10.9 PPR fantasy points per game this season and currently ranks as the RB45. The 29-year-old back has only played in seven of 12 games this year while leaving early due to injuries in two of those contests.
When you look at it, Jones has really been given a full workload in only three games in 2023. In those games, he is still just averaging 11.96 PPR fantasy points per game. So, even if the veteran returns shortly, how much confidence do you have in him to contribute to your fantasy team?
When he returns, Green Bay will likely ease him back into action (like they did with his hamstring issue earlier in the year). Jones does have a great fantasy matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16. However, outside of that, he has two tough matchups in the fantasy playoffs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15 and the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17. He will probably be a low-end RB2/flex-play upon his return.
