Jonathan Mingo College Profile
Mingo had a slow start to his collegiate career, catching just 61 passes for 897 yards and seven touchdowns over his first three seasons. However, his production during his senior is what led to interest from NFL teams. The 6'1", 220-pound wideout caught 51 passes for 861 yards and five scores in 2022.
At the 2023 NFL Combine, Mingo posted a 4.46 forty-yard dash, a 39.5-inch vertical, and was one of the biggest wideout prospects in an otherwise small class. Mingo was selected with the 39th pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, much earlier than many expected heading into the pre-draft process.
Where Should You Draft Jonathan Mingo?
Mingo was listed as a first-team receiver for the team's first depth chart ahead of their preseason opener against the New York Jets on August 12. That said, it seems he's already established himself as a starter in Carolina early in his rookie campaign.
Mingo will compete for targets with veterans Adam Thielen, D.J. Chark, and Hayden Hurst, among others. So he could have plenty of opportunities to shine. That said, the Panthers' offense will be led by a rookie quarterback. First-year signal callers tend to struggle early in the season as they adjust to the next level.
Mingo's ADP sits around the WR66 spot, which feels like an appropriate range for him. He'll likely still be on the board well into the double-digit rounds, so it's not impossible for him to pay off at his current cost.
