Davante Adams is arguably the best wide receiver of this past decade. He is preparing to etch his name in history this season as one of the league's select few to catch 100 career touchdowns. 10 players have achieved this mark and he currently sits at 95 throughout his 10-year career.
At 31 years old, Adams is no longer in his prime but can still earn targets with the best of them. Last year marked his sixth straight season with at least 10 targets per game. However, despite accruing 175 targets, Adams was not a fantasy football WR1 in points per game due to a drop in efficiency and touchdowns either related to QB play or age.
What will be the best spot to draft Adams? Can he reach fantasy WR1 status with Gardner Minshew? Let's look at everything related to the star WR that could help you in 2024 fantasy football.

Davante Adams 2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Raiders recently announced that veteran journeyman Gardner Minshew will start Week 1 and that bodes better for Davante Adams than having Aidan O'Connell under center. Minshew is not good, however, he can pepper his first read in an offense. Michael Pittman Jr. was WR9 in PPG last season from Week 6 through Week 18 when Minshew played nearly every snap for the Colts.
Nevertheless, we cannot rejoice with just a potential improvement from Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O'Connell to Minshew. Adams will turn 32 in December and if history tells us anything, it is that father time comes for all. Adams' yards-per-target dipped from 2021 (9.2) to 2022 (8.4) then dramatically dropped from 2022 to 2023 (6.5).
Adams played hurt for parts of the season due to an AC Joint sprain (as revealed via Netflx's Receiver), but he did manage to play all 17 games.

One factor in play for Adams that could skyrocket his value is a potential midseason trade to a contender. If old friend Aaron Rodgers and the Jets come calling, there is a revitalized fantasy ceiling for Adams in a Jets offense lacking pass-catching threats beyond Garrett Wilson.
When Should I Draft Davante Adams in Fantasy Football?
Davante Adams is probably best left for the mid-third round of half-PPR leagues given his mediocre QB situation. Bad QBs make it tougher for even great WRs to hit touchdown ceilings. This is especially difficult given that Adams is in his 30s. Younger WRs elsewhere may have proven themselves less (Chris Olave/Drake London) but both are entering their respective primes and offer more explosion.
In full-PPR leagues, Adams should remain a steady mid-second-round pick with a healthy balance of ceiling and floor. He can be selected ahead of WRs like the aforementioned London/Olave and even RBs such as Saquon Barkley or Jonathan Taylor.
