We're officially through eight weeks of NFL action in 2024, and the official trade deadline is drawing nearer. Time is running out for teams to make much-needed additions to plug holes in their roster or bolster their already excellent chances of making a run in the playoffs.
There have been plenty of trades, ranging from barely registering on the radars of NFL fans to blockbuster moves that (possibly) could alter the directions of the involved franchises. Sometimes trades don't work out, but they're always interesting to see nonetheless.
So when is the trade deadline, and who are some of the biggest names that have been moved?

When is the NFL Trade Deadline?
November 5, 2024, is the final day that teams can swap players for players or players for picks this season. That's fast approaching -- in just six days, it'll be over.
I’m told the #Patriots are monitoring the trade market to potentially add talent at WR, DT or T positions on the heels of the rousing 25-22 win of the NY #Jets, per source.

Expect more moves to happen. There have already been some big trades; however, there are still teams clamoring to add help to certain spots on their rosters, and there aren't many other ways to do it at this point in the season. Free-agent and practice-squad signings usually don't make enough of an impact.
Who Has Been Traded This Season?
The first huge trade of 2024 was completed on October 15, when the New York Jets sent a 2025 conditional third-round NFL Draft pick to the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire star wide receiver Davante Adams. They reunited him with his favorite quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. The two have begun to continue their long history together.

It hasn't been pretty. The Jets are now 2-6.
The Buffalo Bills acquired former Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Amari Cooper in another blockbuster trade, also finished on October 15. Cooper hadn't played with Bills quarterback Josh Allen before, but it was a massive upgrade over Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who had been one of the worst signal-callers of 2024.
One catch, ONE TOUCHDOWN for Amari Cooper as a Buffalo Bill! 🔥

The former Brown scored a touchdown in his first game but was relatively quiet in his second. Buffalo won both of its two games with him on the roster, though, so the outlook is optimistic.
Receivers appear to be all the rage recently -- the Tennessee Titans sent WR DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2025 conditional fifth-round pick. Hopkins will fill in for injured WRs Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice, who are both out for the rest of the season.
A common theme I saw on coaches film was the impact DeAndre Hopkins presence had the field. The Raiders were going to account for a respect Hopkins in their zone coverages. Here he motions and attacks the middle of the bunch route combo. #Chiefs #ChiefsKingdom pic.twitter.com/POtHmXmFFB

The attention he draws from defenses and his ability to run crisp routes, get open, and catch the ball will be important for helping Kansas City dig itself out of the offensive funk it is in. This could be a huge addition down the stretch.
Finally, the Baltimore Ravens sent their 2025 fifth-round draft pick in exchange for a sixth-round pick and stud wide receiver Diontae Johnson. This will give Baltimore at minimum a clear WR2 to work behind Zay Flowers, and a possible challenger for the top WR spot on the team.

Whatever his role ends up being, he'll be a huge boost to the offense overall. Ravens backup WRs Nelson Agholor and Rashod Bateman have been inconsistent contributors throughout their careers.
The other trades this season haven't been for fantasy-relevant players, and likely won't have an impact, but notably, the Minnesota Vikings traded for offensive tackle Cam Robinson. This should soften the blow of the loss of elite LT Christian Darrisaw for the season.
