Outside the regulars, the Cubs have tried multiple options in the outfield this season with little success. Alexander Canario, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and to a lesser extent Miles Mastrobuoni and Patrick Wisdom have seen a little time out there. Mike Tauchman was serviceable, but now he's on the IL until sometime after the All-Star break.
The Cubs have the league's sixth-worst team batting average and are in the bottom half in terms of runs scored. They sit just four games out of the Wild Card, so all is not lost, but they need to pick up the pace.
The Cubs' top offensive prospect is sitting at Triple-A, waiting for his turn in the majors. That prospect is Owen Caissie. We've seen numerous other prospects get their shot this season, with some successful debuts (Jackson Merrill) and not-so-successful ones (Jackson Holliday). So when will Caissie get his shot? Let's check it out.
Owen Caissie Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
After hitting .296 in May, Caissie is batting just .247 in June, however, he's traded power for average as the left-handed hitter belted five of his eight home runs in June. Much of the power surge came in the first couple weeks of the month though, as he hasn't hit a homer since June 16, a stretch of 10 games.

For the season, the 21-year-old owns a .277-8-45-32-5 line with a .377 wOBA and 120 wRC+. A strong BB% of 14.8% has helped buoy his .390 OBP, but a rather high K% of 27.4% has limited his success, otherwise we may have seen him in Chicago already.
Owen Caissie Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
The Cubs' outfield is crowded with Cody Bellinger, Seiya Suzuki, Ian Happ, and Pete Crow-Armstrong available, but Crow-Armstrong continues to underperform at the plate (.197/.248/.283) and at some point the Cubs will have to give Caissie a shot. Eric Cross' Fantasy Baseball Prospects To Stash article points to August as Caissie's potential debut, but with the Cubs in last place in the NL Central, they may make a move sooner in order to spark the offense.
The former second-round draft pick is said to have some of the best raw power in the minors. He hit 11 home runs at High-A in 2022 in 105 games, then hit 22 more in his first taste of Double-A action in 2023 over 120 games as a 20-year-old. Fantasy managers in need of some pop could get it from Caissie whenever he debuts, so keep an ear to the ground for any updates, and it should come just in time to propel teams to the fantasy baseball playoffs.
