The running back of the Cleveland Browns, Nick Chubb, has been one of the best ball carriers in the league since being selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Georgia. He has four 1,000-plus-yard seasons on his resume and ranks second all-time in yards per carry (5.26) among running backs with at least 1,000 rushes.
He tallied 170 rushing yards on just 28 carries last year before suffering a brutal knee injury in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over a full year later, he has still not returned to the field. Fantasy managers who are stashing him in their league's IR spot are surely wondering when he will be back in action.
When is Chubb coming back? Will he play this year, and what is his fantasy football outlook in 2024? Let's dive in.

Nick Chubb Injury Update
Chubb was placed on the Physically Unable To Return (PUP) list before training camp this summer, and he remained on the PUP list when the season began a few weeks ago. This means he is required to sit out at least one more game, and his earliest possible return would be in Week 5 against the Washington Commanders.
However, as of now, there aren't any recent updates on his status. The team will announce when they activate him from the PUP list, but coming off multiple ligament tears at 28 years old, he might not be ready to go when he's first eligible to join the active roster.

This remains a "wait and see" situation for fantasy managers.
Nick Chubb Fantasy Football Outlook
While Chubb is worth stashing on IR in fantasy football, there's no guarantee he will produce fantasy-friendly numbers this season. Right tackle Jack Conklin (knee) has yet to play this season, and star right guard Wyatt Teller picked up an injury in Week 3 that is expected to sideline him for at least a few weeks.
Meanwhile, Deshaun Watson continues to look well beyond his prime, and the Browns are currently 31st in yards per game (246.3), 24th in rushing yards per game (95.7), and 25th in points per game (16.7) through three weeks.
While Chubb could help the offense a bit, he could also look like a shell of his former self when he steps on the field for the first time this year. Again, unexpected things happen, and Chubb could become a true difference-maker, but expectations should be limited.
