Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb has been one of the best offensive players in the NFL since entering the league.

Unfortunately, the 28-year-old suffered a severe knee injury in Week 2 of 2023, causing him to miss the remainder of the season and the first four weeks of the 2024 season.

When is Chubb coming back to action? What is his fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's dive in.

Nick Chubb Injury Update for Fantasy Football

The Cleveland Browns are set to activate Nick Chubb's (knee) 21-day practice window. Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that the star running back will return to practice on Wednesday.

Chubb has been on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, and once he starts practicing, the team will have three weeks to move him to the active roster. Chubb last played in Week 2 of 2023. 

This is, of course, fantastic news for fantasy managers, but Chubb should still be expected to miss at least a couple more weeks before he is ready to return.

 

Nick Chubb Fantasy Football Outlook

Recovering from a severe knee injury that required two surgeries, Chubb will need time to ease back into practice and regain game readiness.

While seeing Chubb back on the practice field is encouraging news for fantasy managers, patience is vital as Chubb re-enters a backfield featuring Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman.

Once Chubb returns from injury, he has the potential to provide solid RB2 value for fantasy managers as he should be expected to be the lead back after a few weeks on the field. In 2022, Chubb had 1,525 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.

Chubb's ability to break tackles and his natural vision make him a dynamic asset in any offense. If he can quickly regain his pre-injury form, he could reclaim a significant share of the Browns' backfield.

Although he will face competition from Ford and Foreman, Chubb's track record and experience suggest he could emerge as the primary option, especially in goal-line situations.

Fantasy managers could benefit from his reliable production and explosiveness if he can manage a smooth transition back into game shape.
