Longtime Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams was released by the organization this offseason and landed with quarterback Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets. Given Williams' big-play and contested-catch ability, the pairing with the future Hall of Fame quarterback brings plenty of fantasy football intrigue.
However, Williams suffered a torn ACL in Week 2 of last season, and his status for the start of the 2024 campaign is unclear. We have his latest update and fantasy football outlook.
When is Williams coming back? Should you draft him in fantasy football? Let's dive in!

Mike Williams Latest Injury Update - August 7
Williams (knee) has been activated from the PUP list, meaning he's on track to return to practice. This is great news for the veteran wide receiver, and it suggests he'll be ready for Week 1. Continue reading for his 2024 fantasy football outlook.
Mike Williams Fantasy Football Injury Update - August 6
Williams (knee) started training camp on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, and he remains out of action at this time while he recovers from the major knee injury.
However, the Jets are optimistic that he will be ready for the start of the regular season and the Week 1 Monday Night Football matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
Robert Saleh said he expects RG Alijah Vera-Tucker (Achilles) and RT Morgan Moses (pec) to be ready for training camp.
WR Mike Williams (ACL) is on a similar recovery timeframe as RB Breece Hall from last season, who was activated off the PUP list in mid-August.

It will be interesting to see if he can get back in time for a few weeks of practice and build chemistry with Rodgers, so stay tuned for the latest injury update. That said, he should at least be active in Week 1.
Should I Draft Mike Williams in 2024 Fantasy Football?
According to RotoBaller's ADP, Williams is being selected around the WR57 spot in PPR setups. At his current cost, he carries almost no risk. Even though he hasn't posted a 1,000-yard season and 2021 and is unlikely to do so in New York, he's been known for his spike-week upside, and Rodgers will likely give him opportunities deep down the field.

Williams has always been volatile, so he's likely most valuable as a late-round best-ball option. It's hard to imagine him being a consistent producer while competing with Garrett Wilson for targets and coming off a major injury, but don't be surprised if he has one or two multi-touchdown games and a couple of 100-yard performances.
Fantasy managers in traditional 12-team leagues shouldn't count on him as a clear starter, but he's a solid bench stash with upside.
