Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) has had a rough start to the season, and it's not because of poor play. He landed on injured reserve after playing in just one game in Week 2. The former USC Trojan hasn't had a chance to show off his skills in the big leagues yet.
He has a tantalizing array of talents that he showcased over three years with USC and at South Carolina. In his final collegiate season, Lloyd rushed 116 times for 820 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging a dizzying 7.1 yards per carry, and caught 13 passes for 232 yards, good for a whopping 17.8 yards per catch.
So when is MarShawn Lloyd returning to play for the Green Bay Packers from his injury?

MarShawn Lloyd Injury Update for Fantasy Football
The rookie was placed on injured reserve after hurting his ankle late in the Week 2 contest against the Indianapolis Colts. He was required to miss four games after being placed on IR, meaning it was mandatory he sit out Weeks 3-6 at minimum. That means he's technically eligible for return in Week 7.

While he's not yet been designated for return, now is the time for fantasy managers to start checking back for updates throughout the week. Green Bay doesn't have to be in any hurry to get him back this week, but if he's not brought back to practice soon, his status for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans could be in doubt.
Hamstring injuries are tricky to deal with, and each injury is different, meaning there's no way to tell for certain exactly how much time Lloyd will miss. However, it's likely he's somewhere in the back half of his recovery.
MarShawn Lloyd Fantasy Football Outlook
He should have a role in the backfield when he returns and gets fully healthy. Lead running back Josh Jacobs has struggled with efficiency at times. He averaged just 3.4 yards per carry and failed to find the end zone last week. He has just one total touchdown on the year.

He was a great playmaker in space in the NCAA last year, and he was likely drafted to be a weapon in both the rushing and passing games. It may take him some time to become acclimated to the offense and start producing for fantasy managers, but he's a fantastic athlete.
Fantasy managers should trust Packers head coach Matt LaFleur to maximize the freshman back's talents. He has a good shot of being fantasy-relevant soon, especially if he's used as a pass-catching back. He's worth rostering as a handcuff and in deeper leagues.
