Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (appendix) seemed to have a future ceiling of Aaron Jones Lite in the excellent offense he became a part of when he was drafted in 2024. Unfortunately, that hasn't come to pass. He's only touched the ball seven times this season, handling six carries for 15 yards and one catch for one yard.
The injury bug has struck Lloyd particularly hard. He's dealt with a number of ailments that have seen him placed on injured reserve and held out of all but one game this season. He only suited up for his team's Week 2 contest so far.
When will Lloyd be coming back?

MarShawn Lloyd Injury Update for Fantasy Football
He's not about to return any time soon. He may not play a single snap before the NFL Playoffs this season. After being placed on IR due to an ankle injury he picked up in Week 2, he missed seven straight games before there was any optimism about his potential return. That obviously didn't happen.
A couple days after the #Packers activated RB MarShawn Lloyd to the 53-man roster, he’s now going to the non-football illness list because of appendicitis.
This allows Green Bay to replace him on the roster and bring him back later in the season. pic.twitter.com/L4kqGipH5l

The team opened his practice window and he returned to practice. He dealt with a hamstring injury before complaining of abdominal pain. Medical tests later revealed he had appendicitis. The Packers then elevated him to the active roster so they could place him on the NFI (non-football injury) list. He's out indefinitely while he recovers.
He'll be able to play again at some point this season if the Packers decide he can go, but this may be a move for the NFL playoffs, and even if he plays, he may not get many touches.
MarShawn Lloyd Fantasy Football Outlook
Right now, it's best to give up any hopes retained for the rookie to be worth rostering in fantasy football. It doesn't look like he'll get any chances to play. He's a solid player to draft in the late rounds of 2025 fantasy drafts due to his talent, draft capital, and his presence in one of the NFL's better offenses, though.
Marshawn Lloyd has some serious open field juice… Whew. Loose and explosive is a dangerous 1-2
Can’t wait to see LaFleur design some of those old Aaron Jones touches for Lloyd pic.twitter.com/39xanzb0Uu

Green Bay has preferred to run a committee backfield for head coach Matt LaFleur's entire time there. We could see lead back Josh Jacobs and Lloyd be one of the most productive RB tandems in the league next year. That's next year, though. We may not see anything from the freshman player in a game until after the regular season is over.
