Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) was previously expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to a shoulder injury he suffered in a preseason game. It's surprising that the messaging we were given was so clear, and yet it's Week 16 and there's already discussion of his return.
We know that Chiefs head coach Andy Reid isn't overly duplicitous when it comes to injury news. It's possible that Brown was simply ahead of schedule, but only time will tell if he can suit up.
So when will he come back?

Marquise Brown Injury Update for Fantasy Football
For those that aren't familiar, Brown suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation. One of the ligaments that attaches the sternum to the bone that connects with the clavicle tore, requiring significant time to heal up. There wasn't a timetable given for his return initially, since he wasn't expected to play at all again this year.
#Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is expected to miss four to six weeks with the sternoclavicular injury he suffered, per multiple sources. Opening night is three weeks from this Thursday night.

Brown returned to practice on Friday, December 13. His 21-day practice window is open, but he's not yet been elevated to the active roster. There's been speculation that he could return as early as Week 16, but nothing concrete yet. It wouldn't be surprising to us if he were held out at least another game.
Sources: #Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown has received final clearance to practice, paving the way for him to play before the regular season ends.

The Chiefs aren't exactly desperate for wins, but they'd also like to get the former Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens receiver back into his rhythm before the playoffs.
Marquise Brown Fantasy Football Outlook
If he does return, he may not be worth starting outside of the deepest of leagues. KC has no reason to rush him back into a big workload. They're severely lacking in pass-catching options due to his injury and the knee injury that ended the season of WR Rashee Rice (knee).
With the news that Hollywood Brown is back at practice (we'll see how things go), here's what I wrote way back when the Chiefs signed him.
It all still applies. He fits a niche that they could really use in terms of a 1x1 man coverage winner.https://t.co/sLJ8Tr4LMB pic.twitter.com/MiU3JdN99o

But that's more relevant in the playoffs than it is now. The team has managed just fine without him in the regular season. They're likely cruising to a No. 1 seed, though there's a chance it could get snatched by the Buffalo Bills.
