Baltimore Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell was an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. Many were surprised Mitchell went undrafted after having an impressive college career, totaling 375 rushing attempts for 2,584 yards and 23 touchdowns over his final two years at East Carolina.
The undrafted rookie was part of a crowded backfield in 2023. While he had to wait for his turn behind J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill, Mitchell had some massive moments as a rookie. The explosive running back had only 47 rushing attempts but totaled 396 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL in the Week 15 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, ending his rookie season. While the Ravens signed Derrick Henry in free agency this offseason, some have high hopes for Mitchell in 2024.

Latest News On Keaton Mitchell
Baltimore placed Mitchell on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list at the start of training camp on Monday. The move wasn’t a surprise, as many medical experts said they thought the second-year player wouldn’t be ready for training camp. Furthermore, the Ravens don’t expect Mitchell to be ready to play until at some point during the regular season.

Should Fantasy Football Players Draft Keaton Mitchell in 2024?
Unfortunately, the second-year running back’s fantasy outlook for the 2024 season is grim because of the injury. The situation is frustrating as Mitchell was outstanding as a rookie, averaging 8.4 yards per rushing attempt. Furthermore, the former East Carolina star was a threat to score a touchdown every time he touched the ball.

Fantasy players in redraft leagues should avoid drafting Mitchell this year. While he should have a role behind Derrick Henry in Baltimore’s backfield once healthy, Mitchell likely won’t be on the field until midseason. Furthermore, he will need time to get into game shape and earn a consistent role behind the veteran superstar while Justice Hill and rookie Rasheen Ali get a chance at early momentum.
