When is Junior Caminero getting called up? Will Junior Caminero play in July of this MLB season? Read about Junior Caminero’s debut date and fantasy baseball prospect updates for 2024.
The Tampa Bay Rays are truly having a season in which it seems that only the Rays would be able to have.
They currently sit at 57-54 and are five games out of the third AL Wild Card spot. They have been able to maintain a positive record despite players like Randy Arozarena and Amed Rosario having been traded away and their star pitcher Shane McClanahan not even pitching this season.
In addition, the Rays have the third-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. Junior Caminero, who appeared in seven games with the Rays last year, is awaiting his second shot at a promotion.
Junior Caminero Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
Caminero has been deserving of the promotion for some time now. This season, the 20-year-old is slashing .267/.324/.492 with 12 home runs, eight doubles, 31 RBI, and one stolen base over 195 at-bats (48 games) with Triple-A Durham.
Caminero has progressed pretty quickly through the minor leagues up until this point. In 2023, he split time between Single-A and Double-A, and, as mentioned above, has played almost 50 games this season in Triple-A.
Caminero did miss about six weeks earlier this season with a quad injury, however, since being activated on July 19th, he has not looked back.

Tampa Bay would greatly benefit from Caminero's bat, but it is no surprise that it has taken them this long to promote him, as he is so young, and does not want him to risk reinjuring himself.
Junior Caminero Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
Caminero has so much talent and potential that he has massive fantasy upside, even though he is not even in the big leagues yet.
It seems as though his call-up is inevitable, though. The Rays have such a thin lineup that they could only possibly benefit from calling up Caminero. Whether they try to push for the postseason or look to build for next year, adding Caminero to the big league roster seems like a necessary move.
When called up, Caminero is the type of talent that can immediately change the course of a ball club. Expect him to be an extremely valuable fantasy asset as soon as he is called up. Unless you are in a very shallow league, Caminero is an easy stash.
