It took some time, but Jorge Soler landed a three-year deal with the Giants on the heels of a big 2023 campaign with the Miami Marlins.
The 32-year-old slugged 36 home runs to go along with an 11.4% BB% and a .853 OPS across 137 games with the Fish last season, the second-highest home run total of his career after pacing the American League with 48 long balls with the Royals in 2019. Consistent power has been the name of the game when it comes to Soler, and he has exercised patience at the plate, even if there is swing-and-miss in his game.
After a subpar start to his first season in the Bay Area, fantasy managers will want to take a look at when Soler could return from a strained shoulder and what they can expect from him upon his return to action.

Jorge Soler Injury Update for Fantasy Baseball
Soler was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 8 with a right shoulder strain. The good news is he took batting practice for the first time since hitting the IL on Tuesday. The bad news is that he was struck in the head (without wearing a helmet) with his own foul ball off the cage netting and had to leave with a trainer.

Clearly, Soler's shoulder is coming along nicely. Whether he sustained any type of head injury on a rare BP mishap remains to be seen. Fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on the situation in the coming days.
Jorge Soler Fantasy Baseball Outlook
Soler was off to a lukewarm start to his 2024 season before hitting the shelf as he hit .202 with five home runs, a 10.3% BB%, and a .655 OPS across 34 games and 136 trips to the plate. With just four doubles, he has only nine extra-base hits in the season.
His Statcast sheet also leaves plenty to be desired, with plenty of blue across the board. His Statcast data was a sea of red a season ago, but it's been tough sledding to this point in 2024.
At the same time, there is a lengthy track record of well-above-average power. There is zero speed to be had with the slugger, but Soler has long been able to provide value with his raw power. Largely hitting out of the two, three, or four hole with the Giants, he should be able to put forth enough runs and RBI to produce across the board.

Fantasy managers should continue to stash Soler, with an increase in power likely on the horizon.
