Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks has yet to make his NFL debut. The former Texas star was the first running back selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Unfortunately, his college career ended after suffering a torn ACL last November. Fantasy players knew Brooks would miss the start of his rookie season recovering from the injury.
However, many thought he would have played in an NFL game by now. Yet, Brooks hasn’t seen the field over the first 11 weeks. When will that change? Let’s dive into it.

When Is Jonathon Brooks Coming Back?
The rookie running back hasn’t played in a football game in over a year. The last time Brooks played was on November 11 last year against TCU, where he suffered the torn ACL. However, the former Texas star is expected to make his NFL debut on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Should I Start Jonathon Brooks In Week 12?
Fantasy players should avoid starting Brooks in all formats this week. The rookie running back will likely be on a significant snap count coming off the torn ACL. He hasn’t played in a football game in over a year, which likely means the rookie is rusty.
Furthermore, Brooks won’t see a significant workload with Chuba Hubbard healthy. The veteran running back has been outstanding this season. He is the RB11 for the year, averaging 14.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Hubbard has been a scoring machine for the Panthers, totaling six rushing touchdowns in 2024. The veteran running back has four rushing touchdowns over his past four games, including three in his past two contests.

More importantly, the Chiefs have the NFL’s top run defense. They have held running backs to only 12.8 fantasy points per game, the fewest in the league. Kansas City has surrendered 10.5 or fewer fantasy points to running backs in 60% of their games, including five of the past seven matchups.
While fantasy players are excited about Brooks’ NFL debut, they should avoid starting him this week.
