Boston Red Sox center fielder Jarren Duran suffered a season-ending toe injury last year and later underwent turf toe surgery. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old player suffered another injury to the same foot during spring training.
Duran, who is coming off the best season of his career, is quite important for the future of the Red Sox. The team will likely be without starting pitcher Lucas Giolito for the entire season and face a tough challenge in a stacked AL East division.
How serious is Duran's injury? Will he play on opening day against the Seattle Mariners? Let's take a look at his latest injury update for the 2024 season.

Jarren Duran Injury Update for Fantasy Baseball
As per the latest reports, Jarren Duran's injury was not considered to be a serious one. He is currently on track to play against the Mariners on March 28th, and that is a huge boost for the Red Sox.
Duran, a seventh-round pick from the 2018 MLB Draft, is entering the next season with high expectations as the franchise continues to build around Rafael Devers. There is no denying that the Red Sox arguably have the worst roster in the AL East, and it will be interesting to see if young players like Duran and Ceddanne Rafaela could make an impact on the team.
As per the MLB pipeline, the Red Sox currently have the 14th-best farm system in the MLB. They have four players in the top 100, including Rafaela, and some of them could make their Majors debut this year.
Jarren Duran Fantasy Baseball Outlook
As mentioned earlier, Jarren Duran is coming off the best year of his career. He played 102 games before getting hurt and had a batting average of.295 with 98 hits, eight HRs, 40 RBIs, and 46 runs.
He had an on-base percentage of .346 last season and is expected to build on that this upcoming season. Hopefully, he will stay healthy and become a cornerstone franchise player for the Red Sox. In this year's spring training, Duran played 12 games, in which he had a batting average of .257 with nine hits, a home run, four RBIs, and six runs.
Duran and the Red Sox will start the season with a four-game series against the Seattle Mariners. Brayan Bello will be the opening day pitcher for the AL East franchise and he will go against Mariners' Luis Castillo. Duran has played six games against the Mariners in his career and has batted .348 with eight hits, two home runs, five RBIs, and five runs. He is 1 for 3 against Castillo in his career and hit a home run against the Mariners star in their last meeting.
