Jackson Holliday received his first taste of major-league action this season back on April 10th and boy was it a debut to forget for the 2022 number-one overall pick.
He started his big league tenure 1-for-15 with nine strikeouts in his first four games then followed that up going 1-for-19 with nine more strikeouts before being demoted back to Triple-A Norfolk.
In 36 plate appearances at the big league level, Holliday finished with an ugly .059/.111/.059 slash line and an abysmal 50% strikeout rate and 5.6% walk rate. He's anxious to prove that his first handful of games in the majors was a fluke, but how soon with Baltimore give him the chance to redeem himself?

Jackson Holliday Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
The young offspring of former big-leaguer Matt Holliday completely lost what makes and will make him eventually a future all-star, his patience.
The rookie was up at the plate chasing balls out of the zone instead of doing what he does best and working the count waiting for his pitch to hit. He almost had an even 1:1 (.85) strikeout-to-walk ratio in 581 plate appearances last season in the minors and at the major league level this year he accumulated a brutal 9:1 ratio.
Jackson Holliday is batting 225 since returning to Norfolk.
I was a bit conccerned his confidence could take a hit if they promoted him to MLB too rapidly. Looks like that might have happened. It's always a risk with young prospects.#birdland

Unfortunately, his struggles have followed him back to the minor league level. His batting average lies at .264 after being at .333 before his promotion.
Jackson Holliday Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
He's been able to maintain a solid .424 OBP during his time back in the minors, but not only will the Orioles front office need to see a major improvement in batting average, but they will need to see him regain the confidence and swagger he had back during Spring Training before considering another promotion again for the young star.
Jackson Holliday crushes a leadoff home run for the Tides. Thats his sixth blast of the season.

Nobody is blocking Holliday at the big league level as of now with Jorge Mateo and his .240 batting average being the everyday second baseman. With Mateo being a productive number-9 hitter along with the Orioles record at 34-19 the front office will be in no rush to bring up their top prospect again anytime soon, barring any injuries.
We all remember a certain number-one prospect for the Los Angeles Angels who also struggled in his first stint in the majors with a .220 batting average in 40 games played. It's not a matter of "if" Holliday will be back up with the Orioles it's a matter of "when."
