We are nearly two months into the new MLB season, and the Milwaukee Brewers sit at the top of the NL Central division with a record of 29-21. The Brewers have had a fairly good start to this season, given how many of the team's players have missed time due to injuries.
Brandon Woodruff will remain sidelined through the entire season as he recovers from a shoulder injury suffered last year. Moreover, 25-year-old outfielder Garrett Mitchell and star closer Devin Williams are yet to make their season debuts as both of them are recovering from injuries that they suffered in spring training.
What's the latest update on Mitchell? Will he play this year for the Brewers? Let's take a look at the latest injury report for the UCLA product.
Garrett Mitchell Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
Garrett Mitchell suffered a fractured finger during spring training and was placed on the 60-day injured list. According to recent reports, the center fielder took swings off the tee on May 24th at Fenway Park in Boston.
The Brewers are hopeful that their emerging star will make a return in mid-June. Mitchell, who made his debut in the Majors two years ago, impressed everyone upon his arrival. He played only 19 games last year because of a shoulder injury, which resulted in him missing five months of action.
In Mitchell's absence, Blake Perkins has been the Brewers' starting center fielder, but once the 25-year-old is healthy, he is likely to take that spot back. As mentioned earlier, the Brewers have done fairly well this year given how many of their star players have missed time. Apart from Williams, Woodruff, and Devin Williams, Christian Yelich, Rhys Hoskins, and Joe Ross are among the others who have faced or are facing a spell on the sidelines this season.

Garrett Mitchell's Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
In 19 games last year, Garrett Mitchell had 16 hits, three home runs, seven RBI, and 10 runs scored. He had a slash line of .246 BA, .315 OBP, and .761 OPS, which were poorer than his rookie season.
Mitchell will hope that once he's back in the lineup, he will be able to stay healthy and get back to the level that he showed during his rookie season, where he hit .311 and also stole nine bases. The Brewers need Mitchell back on the field, as apart from Christian Yelich, none of their outfielders are playing great. Fantasy players who have him on their rosters should be excited, as Mitchell should be back on the field around June 17th, barring any setbacks.
The NL Central club is currently on a nine-game road trip in which they have already lost four out of the seven games played. Hopefully, they'll get their star players back soon and maintain their position at the top of the division.
