When is Dylan Crews getting called up? Will Dylan Crews play in July of this MLB season? Read about Dylan Crews' debut date and fantasy baseball prospect updates for 2024.
The Washington Nationals are a team built for the future. Filled with young talent, this season has predominantly been used for the players to adjust and develop in the big leagues and get more reps under their belts.
That said, even with much young talent already in the majors, more reinforcements are on their way. MLB Pipeline’s number two prospect, James Wood, was called up at the beginning of July, and it is expected that the league's number four prospect, Dylan Crews, won’t be too much further behind.
Now that Wood has appeared in 29 games with the Nationals (109 AB), he is set to graduate from prospect status. This means that Crews will not only become the club's top prospect but move up to the league's top three.
Dylan Crews Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
Crews, the second overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft, has excelled at every level in the minor leagues so far, most recently earning a promotion to Triple-A in mid-June.
Through 34 games in Triple-A, Crews is slashing .245/.317/.415, with four HR, 17 RBI, and five stolen bases.

Crews, 22, will join his former teammate and College World Series champion Paul Skenes as two of the first players from that draft class to make the major leagues.
Dylan Crews Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
As a hitter, Crews is the full package. He has phenomenal contact ability and great bat speed, and throughout his three years at LSU, he has greatly improved his plate-displacing and overall hitting approach.
Crews's not being called up surely can’t be because of his performance. He is still very young and has been eased into all levels of play so far to ensure that his development and progression go smoothly, and that is likely the reason why he hasn’t been rushed to the majors.
As the season is entering its final two months, his call-up is imminent, though. The rest of this season for the Nationals will be used as an audition for the future, and Crews figures to play a critical part in that. Expect him to be called up soon, and showcase his full skillset right away.
