The Carolina Panthers were without one of their top playmakers in Week 8, as their leading wide receiver missed the game versus the Denver Broncos due to a rib injury.
Though Diontae Johnson showed optimism about his availability earlier in the week, he was ultimately sidelined. As the Nov. 5 trade deadline looms, there is also speculation that he could be moved, impacting his fantasy outlook.
Here is the latest injury update on the Tampa-born pass-catcher and his fantasy outlook for Week 9 and beyond.

Diontae Johnson Injury Update for Fantasy Football
UPDATE: Johnson has been traded to the Baltimore Ravens. It is to be determined if he will play in Week 9, but he should suit up for Week 10 on Thursday Night Football.
Already dealing with hamstring and ankle issues when facing the Washington Commanders in Week 7, he did see the field, though he recorded only one reception for 17 yards in a loss.
The Panthers' 28-year-old wideout missed Week 8 after being ruled out with a rib injury. The former Pro Bowler did not practice leading up to Week 8, so it was no big surprise when he sat out that contest.
The Toledo alum has become a trustworthy target within Carolina's offense. With the trade deadline approaching, fantasy managers should monitor his status closely, as a potential move could change his role and increase (or decrease) his fantasy value.
For now, his return from injury remains day-to-day, so keep an eye on practice reports leading up to Week 9.
Diontae Johnson Fantasy Football Outlook
As Carolina's current WR1, Johnson has delivered solid production this season with 30 receptions for 357 yards and three touchdowns, including two games with more than 20 PPR points.
Playing in the final year of his two-year, $36.7 million contract, he has been one of the more reliable contributors in an otherwise inconsistent Panthers offense.
Should he remain in Carolina, he will continue to offer value as a WR3 or flex option, especially in favorable matchups.

However, if the pass-catcher is traded to a more pass-heavy offense, his fantasy ceiling could rise significantly, providing more scoring opportunities each week.
While his role in Carolina is secure, a move could offer the 28-year-old wide receiver a chance to showcase his skills in a setting where he is less likely to be hindered by the team's offensive struggles.
Regardless of the outcome, he remains a valuable roster addition for fantasy managers, capable of producing good fantasy numbers for your squad.
