New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave (concussion) is still dealing with the after math of the second concussion he suffered in 2024. He was leveled by a Carolina Panthers defender with a direct blow to the helmet and knocked out back in Week 9.
He's been on injured reserve since then, and the team has yet to elevate him to the active roster. The Saints won't be going to this year's playoffs, so Week 18 is Olave's last chance to get in some more game action before New Orleans heads to their offseason.
Will he be able to return or will he be held out once again?

Chris Olave Injury Update for Fantasy Football
He actually had his 21-day practice window opened and returned to practice ahead of Week 16. He logged limited practices in that week of practice, but was later ruled out. In the days leading up to his Week 17 game, he logged three full practices, but was again held out of the contest.

For our money, we'd say the team will hold him out of the final game. While he likely wants to play, and the coaching staff may let him suit up anyway, it would probably be better for his long-term health if he were held out just to make sure he doesn't suffer more brain injuries.
It's never easy to predict what teams will do regarding injuries, but with starting quarterback Derek Carr (hand) out for the season and a roster full of hurt players, it doesn't make much sense to risk falling further in the NFL Draft in 2025. And Olave being out will give other players chances to get valuable game reps.
Chris Olave Fantasy Football Outlook
Even if he does play, we wouldn't recommend starting him if you're in a fantasy league that has Week 18 games. There's so little indication of how much volume he could get and whether he'll be on a pitch count. And without his QB1, his upside may be heavily capped.

We're not denying his talent, and anything can happen in the last week of the regular season, but we'd treat him as a risky WR3/FLEX. The Saints backup quarterbacks have not played well this season.
