New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave (concussion) suffered a scary blow to the head in his team's Week 9 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He attempted to catch a pass but ended up pinned between two defenders, with one absolutely clobbering him with a helmet-to-helmet hit.
He was sent to the hospital but released soon after and traveled home with the team. Still, it was the second concussion of Olave's season in a career that's seen him pick up five documented concussions, which brings up major concerns about his long-term health and availability.
So when will Olave return? Is he out for the season, or will he be back? Here is the latest outlook and injury update.

Chris Olave Injury Update for Fantasy Football
He was placed on injured reserve ahead of Week 10, so he's missed two games of his required four-game absence so far. The team also has a bye in Week 12, meaning he won't be eligible to return to play until Week 15 at the earliest. It's not known yet how long he'll be out.
Chris Olave took a shot. He will miss the rest of the game. Had to be taken to the hospital for evaluation. I hope he is ok. pic.twitter.com/zSZy0N0yq0

Apparently, he hasn't been ruled out for the season currently, though. A four-game absence for a serious concussion isn't totally unprecedented, so it's alright to assume this is a real possibility.
#Saints are not ruling WR Chris Olave out for the year, taking the four weeks on IR for now.

For now, the only thing fantasy managers can do is wait and see. There is no definitive news about a specific return date has been released.
Chris Olave Fantasy Football Outlook
If quarterback Derek Carr can stop throwing him literal hospital passes, he can have a nice run in the fantasy playoffs, but it would be risky to start him in Week 15 if it's his first game back. Looking forward to 2025 is the best way to think about Olave -- with New Orleans extremely unlikely to make the playoffs, we may not see No. 12 much again in 2024, if at all.

He's an excellent receiver, so it's unfortunate that he's dealt with so many injuries. If he does return this season, he could attain WR3/FLEX status quickly, with the upside for more.
