Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson got off to a strong start to his NFL career, throwing for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in his first four NFL starts. He was also impressive on the ground, gaining 136 yards and finding the end zone four times.
However, Richardson injured his right shoulder in a game against the Titans. He was off to a good start in that one, going 9-for-12 for 98 yards before exiting.
When is Richardson returning? What is his fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's dive in.

Is Anthony Richardson Coming Back in Week 10?
Unfortunately for the Colts and for fantasy managers, we won't be seeing Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson when the team plays the New England Patriots on Sunday.
In fact, we won't see Richardson again in 2023. He underwent surgery to repair his shoulder and will not be available again this season. The former Florida passer's rookie season is over before it ever really got going.
Gardner Minshew II is the team's starting quarterback moving forward. Minshew has started five games for the Colts so far this season. Overall, he's completed 63.6% of his passes for 1,527 yards with eight touchdowns and five picks.
Anthony Richardson Injury Update and Fantasy Outlook
If you haven't dropped Anthony Richardson yet in redraft leagues, you can safely do so. The rookie is done for the season.
Richardson played well in his limited action though and should be viewed as a QB1 in dynasty formats. He offers a good blend of arm strength and athleticism, though there are still long-term concerns about his accuracy. In one of his starts as a rookie, he completed just 44% of his passes in an overtime loss to the Rams.
Minshew will continue to be a QB2 option for the rest of the 2023 season. If he continues to impress, the pending free agent could find a role next year, though overall he's likely going to spend the rest of his career as a backup QB who is occasionally pressed into action like he has been this year.
