Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) can't seem to catch a break from the injury bug. After just three full healthy games to start 2024, he suffered an oblique injury in his Week 4 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers and was pulled from the game after just four pass attempts.
He was on pace to have a solid game, having completed three of those four attempts for 71 yards and rushing three times for 24 yards. It's been a frustrating start to his career -- he seemingly has another ailment pop up each time he gets into a groove. He'll have to shake off the rust yet again when he returns.
So when is Anthony Richardson coming back to play for the Indianapolis Colts?

Anthony Richardson Injury Update for Fantasy Football
The second-year-pro is still dealing with the oblique injury that he suffered during Week 4, but he's reportedly set to return for Week 7 when Indy takes on the Miami Dolphins as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks in his recovery. This was confirmed by Colts head coach Shane Steichen.
Colts HC Shane Steichen told reporters that QB Anthony Richardson will play Sunday if he does not suffer any setbacks from his oblique injury.

While it's good that he will return soon, there is serious concern about his overall ability to stay healthy. A big part of his upside for fantasy football and real life is his ability to run the ball. He weighs over 240 pounds and ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, but he's suffered multiple injuries on runs.
All four of #Colts QB Anthony Richardson’s NFL injuries were on runs. Three of them were designed.
• Bruised left knee in Week 1 2023 (scramble)
• Concussion in Week 2 2023
• AC joint sprain in Week 5 2023

This includes the shoulder injury that ended his season prematurely in 2023. He may need to adjust his running style or shy away from runs until he finds a way to protect himself better. His rate of injuries isn't sustainable if he wants to log healthy seasons and finally get on track with the offense.
Anthony Richardson Fantasy Football Outlook
Fantasy managers have waited for what seems like forever to see consistent good production out of the former Florida Gator. He had three games of 15+ fantasy points in 2023 and scored 25 points in Week 1 of this year before putting up three straight single-digit-point performances, one due to his exit from the injury.

Most prominent in his struggles has been his inaccuracy. He's completed just 50.6% of his passes this year, throwing just three touchdowns to six interceptions. Those issues will need to be cleaned up if he wants to see fantasy success. Quarterbacks need to sustain drives and avoid giving the ball away if they want to do well.
He's worth rostering, but he'll need to show some consistently good performances before he can be trusted in starting lineups outside of 2QB leagues.
