New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has had one of the more underrated fantasy football seasons this year. Many had concerns about the older running back heading into the season, ranking him as a mid-range or low-end RB2.
However, Kamara has far exceeded those expectations. The veteran is the RB9 for the year, averaging 16.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game despite playing behind a struggling offensive line.
Unfortunately, he suffered a groin injury in the Week 15 loss to the Washington Commanders. Will Kamara play against this season?

When Is Alvin Kamara Coming Back?
The star running back had five rushing attempts for 12 yards, four receptions for 58 receiving yards, and a touchdown in the Week 15 matchup before leaving with the groin injury, totaling 15 fantasy points. Unfortunately, Kamara has missed the past two games because of the injury.
Schefter: Alvin Kamara (groin) could miss rest of season.

While some had hoped the star running back would return this year, the Saints have no reason to put Kamara on the field in Week 18 with the team eliminated from the playoffs. Therefore, fantasy players shouldn’t expect to see him on the field again this season.
Replacement Options Off The Waiver Wire
However, fantasy players can find some solid replacement options off the waiver wire. Ameer Abdullah is rostered in only 35% of Yahoo leagues. Yet, the veteran running back has been outstanding during the fantasy football playoffs.
Abdullah has scored at least 16 half-point PPR fantasy points in three consecutive games. He has had at least 66 scrimmage yards in every contest, finding the end zone twice.

Last week, the veteran running back had 20 rushing attempts for 115 yards and 16.2 fantasy points in the win over the Saints. It was Abdullah’s first career game with 100 or more rushing yards.
While he faces a talented Los Angeles Chargers run defense on Sunday, the veteran running back should see plenty of work in the passing game, making him an RB2 in Week 18.
