We're almost halfway through the NFL's regular season in 2024, and this has been one of the wildest weeks of all. Week 8's slate of games brought pure chaos across the board to fans of teams and fantasy football managers alike. The product is living up to its billing as one of the most entertaining TV programs in existence.
There's still one more game left though -- Monday Night Football. So far this season, MNF has had its fair share of blowouts and thrillers. Between the Detroit Lions crushing the Seattle Seahawks 42-29 in Week 4 and the 38-33 stunner put on by the Washington Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals, MNF has not disappointed this year.
So what time is the Monday night game this week? Who will play, who should win, and who are some players to watch out for?
Who is Playing on Monday Night Football?
For this week's installment, the 2-5 New York Giants will travel to Pennsylvania to face off against the 5-2 Pittsburgh Steelers. While the Steelers have enjoyed plenty of success with their new quarterbacks, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, the Giants are faltering in typical Giant fashion. That doesn't mean this game will bore, though.
New York has an electric new wide receiver in Malik Nabers. Before a concussion knocked him out of two contests, he was on pace for a historic season and putting up some of the best numbers of any wideout in the league.
Meanwhile, the Steelers new starting quarterback, Russell Wilson, is coming off a three-touchdown performance in a blowout win over the New York Jets in Week 7. He'll have WR George Pickens, who went for 111 receiving yards and a touchdown last week, and running back Najee Harris, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown last week.
When and How Can I Watch The Game?
The game will air at 8:15 PM EDT on Monday, October 28. It will air on ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, ESPN+, and ESPN Deportes for the Spanish language broadcast. ESPN+ can be purchased for $11.99/month (formerly $10.99 before a price increase).
If you don't want to pay, the ABC broadcast of the game is your best bet -- you can get ABC with cable or antenna if your area has a strong enough signal.
Who is Going to Win?
Right now, Pittsburgh are heavy favorites to win. New York is reeling from the loss of its best offensive lineman, Andrew Thomas, an elite pass-protector. Without him, their quarterback, Daniel Jones, was sacked nine times in Week 7. It's not possible to run a good offense when your QB gets sacked that much.
Wilson and the Steelers should be able to dominate time of possession. T.J. Watt, one of the best defensive ends in the league, could have a field day against a weakened Giants offensive line, allowing Pittsburgh to force short drives and get the ball back for its offense. That's what happened in Week 7.
Anything can happen, but the NFL is a game of matchups, and a key Giants weakness will be pitted against one of the Steelers' biggest strengths, so it seems more likely that the "Black and Gold" will bring home the win this week and improve to 6-2.
