During Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles was knocked out of the game with an apparent knee injury. The injury was non-contact and did not look promising as Charles had to be helped off of the field.
Early reports are indicating that Charles has a torn ACL, which would keep him sidelined for the rest of the year. Official results from Charles' MRI will confirm the severity of the injury. The news is disheartening to Kansas City fans as well as Charles' owners in fantasy.
In relief of Charles, running backs Charcandrick West and Knile Davis both saw action in a committee effort. West saw the most touches, carrying the ball seven times for 31 yards. Meanwhile, Davis only had two carries for two yards.
Moving forward, both running backs have value and should be added across all leagues. Chiefs Coach Andy Reid will more than likely use a combination of both players to fill the void that Charles leaves behind. It appeared from Sunday's game that Charcandrick West will have the first crack at the job, with Davis playing a potential 'change of pace' role.
Charles owners should try and pick up both players if possible. It looks like Charcandrick West is the guy to own for now, but Davis has shown plenty of upside in the past so don't overlook him.
