The Houston Texans' 1-3 start is not where the team, nor most fans, envisioned they'd be after the first month of the NFL season. Unfortunately, that is exactly the case, and fantasy football owners who jumped on the Texans' defense are left scratching their heads and wondering just what in the world went wrong.
Even with the return of former No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney and the addition of former New England Patriot Vince Wilfork, Houston's defense has become a major disappointment. The Texans have allowed an average of 27 points per game this season and have only forced two turnovers in the process. The team's only solid defensive outing came against the hapless Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, and all of that went out the window the very next week when the Texans gave up 48 points in a blowout loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
This defense has been the most underachieving unit in the NFL, mostly because it was an absolute force in 2014. J.J. Watt can't play every position at once, but the Texans might need him to so he can make up for the rest of the defense's ineptitude.
The Texans still face the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars twice this season, so they could still be valuable for a few games. However, this defense has shown nothing to earn anybody's trust going forward.
