Wes Welker and Hakeem Nicks on the Giants' Radar

The New York Giants must not feel 100 percent comfortable with the fact that Victor Cruz is expected back for week 4. According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the team has scheduled workouts with wide receivers Wes Welker and Hakeem Nicks.

It seems unlikely that the team would sign either man until they get to see out effective Cruz is when he returns to action on Sunday against a tough Buffalo Bills defense. Even without Cruz, the Giants' passing game hasn't been a big problem. Odell Beckham and Rueben Randle have done well, and they should do even better with Cruz in the slot.

If Cruz is unable to go, or if he re-injures himself, signing Welker would make a lot of sense. Neither Beckham nor Randle are great slot receivers and Welker may be one of the best slot receivers of all time. But it's doubtful the team would sign him if Cruz is healthy. As for Nicks, he had a pretty good run with the Giants several years ago but has bounced around the league ever since he was released in 2013. He did seem to have good on-the-field chemistry with Eli Manning a few years ago, so maybe the team thinks the duo could recapture some magic.

If Cruz is healthy, Nicks is a more likely pickup for the Giants. But don't go rushing to add either guy to your fantasy football rosters just yet.
