Week 6 Monday Night (MNF) Matchups Analysis: Start/Sit for Fantasy Football

What's up RotoBallers. Below you will find our Week 6 NFL Monday Night matchups analysis & fantasy football start/sit recommendations for the 2016 NFL football season. Ben Ruppert breaks down the Week 6 Monday Night matchup between the Jets and the Cardinals to help you prepare your lineups to win this week.

Each week of the NFL season, we will be breaking down individual matchups and providing you with some fantasy football advice and lineup recommendations based on matchups that we love, matchups that we hate, and some high-risk/high-reward players, as well. It’s essential to analyze the weekly NFL match-ups to find lineup sleepers and gems, while also avoiding those players who may turn out to be busts.

Editor's Note: New users that sign up on Fantasy Aces, make a $20 deposit, and enter any game will receive our full season NFL (or NBA) Premium Pass for free, a $59.99 value. Just email [email protected] with your new FantasyAces username - and boom, that's it! We will email you with your Premium pass.

Jets @ Cardinals - Monday 10/17 @ 8:30 PM EST

Matchups We Love:

Carson Palmer (QB, ARI)

Carson Palmer was cleared to practice earlier this week after sustaining a concussion in Week 5. He will be all set for this juicy Monday night matchup with the Jets. The Jets have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing QBs, allowing them to throw for 320 yards and two TDs on average per game. Palmer wasn’t playing particularly well before his injury, with a 1:5 TD:INT ratio over his last two games. However, Palmer will have his full arsenal of weapons with him against a Jets defense that was just picked to pieces by Ben Roethlisberger last week. He will have a nice rebound week at home.

John Brown (WR, ARI)

Before Palmer’s injury, the connection between him and John Brown was really beginning to blossom. Brown played an integral part of this offense last season, but has been a bit slow to begin the 2016 season. In Week 4 before the injury to Palmer, Brown had 10 receptions for 144 yards in what was easily his best game of the season. With Palmer back after not playing last week, look for these two to find that connection again. The Jets will have Darrelle Revis covering Larry Fitzgerald, meaning Brown will have his chances to get open against a suspect secondary.

Brandon Marshall (WR, NYJ)

Brandon Marshall and the Jets will be up against one of the top secondary’s in the league on Monday. However, when Marshall is healthy and going strong he will get all the targets he needs to find success. He has TDs in each of the last two games, and is coming into this one fresh off of his best game of the season. Marshall will likely be leaned on to do more with WR Eric Decker on IR. He is far and away the favorite target of Ryan Fitzpatrick, and will likely have another big game this week as the Jets pass to keep up with the Cardinals.

Matchups We Hate:

Matt Forte (RB, NYJ)

Ever since his huge Week 2 game against the Bills, Matt Forte has seen his production dip over the past three weeks. During that time period, he has only averaged 16 touches for 56 yards with no TDs. Last week he faced a Steelers defense that Jay Ajayi just gained 200 yards on. Until things get rolling in the running game again, Forte will be difficult to trust in this matchup. The Cardinals have allowed the 13th least fantasy points to opposing RBs this season. Unless things change for the better, Forte will likely disappoint once again.
Notable Players:

David Johnson (RB, ARI)

Johnson draws a tough matchup this week against the New York Jets. The Jets have given up the 11th fewest fantasy points to RBs this season. They have allowed 19 carries for 66 yards on average, but they have also allowed six receptions for 40 yards through the air. Le’Veon Bell last week ran for 66 yards and caught nine passes for 88 yards. Johnson also has elite level talent, so look for him to put up some solid numbers even in this difficult matchup.

Larry Fitzgerald (WR, ARI)

Larry Fitzgerald has been the preferred target of choice the entire season for either of the Cardinals QBs. He is on pace to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark with nearly 100 catches at this pace, and his TD per game rate is excellent for fantasy owners. The Jets have allowed a ton of fantasy points to the WR position, but against opposing WR1s they have done fairly well due to the presence of Revis Island. Fitz will have a tough time making plays consistently with Revis following him around. If he is covered tight, Palmer can look towards John Brown or Michael Floyd to make plays in the passing game.
