Week 5 FLEX Outlooks for Fantasy Football
Tyrone Tracy Jr., New York Giants - Fantasy Football Outlook
New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. could see a significant workload in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks, with Devin Singletary (groin) doubtful to play. Tracy has yet to score a touchdown this season and has been limited to 41 receiving yards on four catches and just 29 rushing yards on 12 carries (2.42 YPC).
However, Seattle's defense ranks 19th in the NFL against running backs, allowing 420 rushing yards and four touchdowns in four games, which could open up opportunities for the rookie. Eric Gray could also see some touches on Sunday, but Tracy is expected to start in place of the injured Singletary.
While Tracy's 2.75 fantasy points per game leave much to be desired, the increased volume could lead to a breakout performance, making him a flex option for Week 5.
- Danny Boyle, RotoBaller
Alexander Mattison, Las Vegas Raiders - Fantasy Football Outlook
Las Vegas Raiders running back Alexander Mattison should see a bigger workload against the Denver Broncos with Zamir White (groin) doubtful to play in Week 5. Despite the fact the Broncos have an adamant defense, Mattison should see an extended workload, with White not expected to play.
Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce has expressed confidence in Mattison and indicated that he's earned a bigger share of the backfield touches after the current lead back struggled this season. The former Minnesota Vikings may not find much running room against Denver, though, as they rank eighth least in PPR fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs.
Mattison may have to rely on his pass-catching ability to be fantasy-relevant this week and is on the flex radar with the uptick in touches. Starting unproductive players on bad offenses facing great defenses is a recipe for fantasy football disaster for your teams. The 26-year-old should be rostered, but he is mainly a borderline flex option for Week 5.
- John Johnson, RotoBaller
Antonio Gibson, New England Patriots - Fantasy Football Outlook
New England Patriots running back Antonio Gibson is expected to start at running back in Week 5 after head coach Jerod Mayo announced that Rhamondre Stevenson had lost the starting job. Stevenson has fumbled four times through four games this season while Gibson has demonstrated impressive burst and productivity with 219 scrimmage yards over his last three contests.
The increased role comes at an opportune time for Gibson; this weekend, the Patriots face the Miami Dolphins, who have allowed the most fantasy points and the most touchdowns to opposing running backs this year.
While we can still expect some growing pains from Gibson as he adjusts to an increased role within a poor offense, he has a real chance to rank as a low-end fantasy RB2 this week. He's particularly appealing as someone who can leave an impact on the ground and through the air.
