Week 4 Tight Ends - Rankings & Matchups Analysis
My colleagues are crazy to have Jordan Reed ranked anywhere but first at the position. He's gotten off to a slow start to be sure, but this week he gets a Browns defense that was beaten up by Zach Ertz and Dennis Pitta in Weeks 1 and 2. Reed is elite at the position, and should be Kirk Cousins' top option in the passing game. Love me some Jordan Reed this week.
I think I'm a shade low on Dennis Pitta this week, as he'll get a shot at the porous Raiders secondary. He's the top target in the Baltimore passing game, and should be a TE1 no matter what this week. It's just a matter of me liking the players I have ahead of him more.
With Antonio Gates still out, Hunter Henry has a clear path to fantasy relevance in Week 4. The Chargers get the Saints "defense" at home, and given the usage we saw last week I think Henry will run wild this week. He's the tight end of the future in San Diego for a reason.
"Brian Hoyer is starting for the Bears again this week...oh darn," he chuckled to himself while plugging Zach Miller into all of his lineups. For real though, those two are on the same page already, and if the Bears get in the red zone Hoyer is looking for Miller. I love Miller this week as a low-end TE1 and I'll keep him there until his usage patterns change.
Want to go nuts real quick? Try to pick between Jack Doyle and Dwayne Allen each week. Right now Doyle has been a better fantasy option, but that is due almost entirely to his three-catch, two-touchdown Week 1 performance. Allen is the better athlete, and I'll still take him over Doyle until something shifts drastically, but you'd be wise to avoid both. Each has 15 targets through three games...yuck.
