Week 3 Running Back Outlooks for Fantasy Football
Jordan Mason, San Francisco 49ers - Fantasy Football Outlook
San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason has momentum coming into a Week 3 matchup versus the Rams in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. The 49ers appear to have developed a gem in the undrafted 25-year-old who spent his last two years at Georgia Tech overshadowed by Jamyr Gibbs.
Through two games Mason -- who goes by J.P. around the 49ers facility -- is the overall RB7 in half-PPR scoring. The Rams have struggled to stop the run in the young season, allowing the third-most half-PPR points to running backs.
Last week, they let Arizona's James Connor go for 122 yards and a touchdown. Before that, in Detroit, David Montgomery and Gibbs combined for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Mason began the season in relative obscurity as Christian McCaffrey's backup but in the absence of CMC (Achilles), he has skyrocketed to high-end RB1 and must-start status in Week 3.

De'Von Achane, Miami Dolphins - Fantasy Football Outlook
Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane will be an RB1 in his Week 3 road matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Expect him to rack up another significant touch total this Sunday, with the team turning to quarterback Skylar Thompson.
Achane handled the rock 29 times last week, amassing 168 total yards and a receiving score as the offense's centerpiece in a 31-10 loss against the Bills. It's unlikely he challenges 30 touches weekly, but Miami could lean on its RBs moving forward with Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) set to miss at least the next four games.
For this week, at least, it appears they'll again be without veteran Raheem Mostert, so expect backups Jaylen Wright and Jeff Wilson Jr. to mix in for work behind the 22-year-old. The two-handled seven total touches in Week 2. Achane is RotoBaller's PPR RB6 this week.

Cam Akers, Houston Texans - Fantasy Football Outlook
With Houston Texans running backs Joe Mixon (ankle) and Dameon Pierce (hamstring) listed as doubtful and out, respectively, in Week 3, Cam Akers suddenly could be thrust into a starting role against Minnesota.
Playing the Florida State product on Sunday certainly comes with risk. The back is on his third team in two years, has taken just seven carries through two games, is less than a year removed from an Achilles injury, and faces a Minnesota defense that ranks seventh against fantasy running backs.
The Texans, however, don't have much choice — Akers will play. Fantasy managers in a similar bind can consider rolling the dice, knowing there isn't much competition for carries this week. The former LA Ram is a borderline RB2 and flex play in Sunday's matchup against the Vikings.
