Week 17 Quarterback Outlooks for Fantasy Football
Drake Maye, New England Patriots - Fantasy Football Outlook
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will look to remain a fringe top-12 fantasy option as his team returns home for the first time since Week 13. The Patriots host the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17, putting the No. 3 pick up against a Bolts defense that has allowed the 11th-most rushing yards but 14th-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2024.
Maye himself has been solid lately, averaging 37.7 rushing yards per game as a starter while amassing four total touchdowns over his last two contests. The one drawback with Maye has been his tendency to lose the football; the UNC product has 12 turnovers over his last seven games.
If Maye can clean up the turnovers while remaining productive on the ground and near the end zone, he could sneak into the top-12 quarterback range. For the time being, he ranks as a mid-to-high QB2.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers - Fantasy Football Outlook
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has a good matchup against the New England Patriots defense in Week 17. The Bolts and Pats will play on Saturday afternoon in New England, where Herbert will look to build on his overall QB7 against the Broncos in Week 16.
Herbert looked much healthier last week, showing much more mobility on his injured ankle. He did not appear on the injury report at all heading into this game, his first time totally off the report in weeks. With running backs Gus Edwards (ankle) out and J.K. Dobbins returning to action for the first time since Week 12, the Chargers may need to rely on the passing game even though they are favored in this game. Herbert has a nice ceiling in this one and a fairly high floor as well.
- David A. Marcillo, RotoBaller
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers - Fantasy Football Outlook
Carolina Panthers second-year quarterback Bryce Young has looked much better late in the season after being benched early on for veteran Andy Dalton. While Young is on the rise heading into a Week 17 divisional matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, he'll be without star running back Chuba Hubbard (calf, knee), who was placed on Injured Reserve. Outside of that, though, Young is set up nicely in his second meeting against a Tampa defense that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing QBs in 2024, including 4,004 passing yards and 24 total touchdown passes. In the first meeting against the Bucs on Dec. 1, Young had a season-high 298 passing yards and a touchdown in the overtime loss. In the last five weeks, Young has been a top-10 fantasy QB with 1,255 passing yards, six touchdowns and three picks. He's still a QB2 in fantasy, but there's reason to believe he could have another decent game.
