With second-year quarterback Blake Bortles at the helm, the offense of the Jacksonville Jaguars is playing like a unit we’re not used to seeing. With the help of Allen Robinson and Julius Thomas, Bortles has been able to elevate his game tremendously this season.
Bortles is averaging more than 26 fantasy points per game over the last month, and he’s thrown 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions over that span. This week, Bortles has the juiciest of matchups as the Jaguars travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints, who shouldn’t even qualify as a professional defense.
The Saints’ defense is a complete sham, and has been all season long. New Orleans ranks 30th in passing yards allowed, and the 39 passing touchdowns the Saints have allowed this year is dead-last by eight touchdowns. Bortles will be just fine in this one.
Kirk Cousins has played like a man possessed over his last four games, including his Week 15 performance where he finished with 314 yards and five total touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills to finish with 35.7 fantasy points.
Cousins has struggled on the road this season, averaging just 11.6 fantasy points per contest, but he’s facing a Philadelphia Eagles defense that was absolutely shredded by the Arizona Cardinals last week. The Washington Redskins can win the division with a win in Philadelphia, and Cousins finished with 21.7 fantasy points against the Eagles in Week 4.
Matthew Stafford has been much better since the Detroit Lions shook things up during their bye week in Week 9. Since then, Stafford has thrown 14 touchdowns to just two interceptions and is averaging 21 fantasy points per game. Stafford threw three first-half touchdowns against the Saints in Week 15, and he’ll be in for another favorable matchup as the Lions welcome the San Francisco 49ers to Ford Field for their home finale.
Stafford is also averaging 24 fantasy points per game over his last three home contests, and even though the 49ers defense has been stingy lately, I can see Stafford having another strong game in Detroit’s home finale.
