The first round of fantasy football playoffs has officially begun, and for those who were fortunate enough to extend their seasons past Week 13, knocking it out of the park during the first round of the postseason is extremely rewarding. With that in mind, let’s take a look at two guys who should reward their owners with big games this week.
Running back Lamar Miller has had nothing short of a roller coast season. Plain and simple. He’s had weeks where he’s put up 25-plus points, and he’s also had weeks where owners were left banging their heads against the wall for starting him. Miller is the Miami Dolphins’ best offensive option, and it’s no secret that the team does better when they give him the football. Miller has only netted about 17 points over his last three weeks, but the Dolphins fed him the ball plenty of times last week, and he finished with more than 100 rushing yards for the first time since Week 7. Now, he’ll face a New York Giants team that allows 109 rushing yards per game. The Giants were also torched for more than 200 yards on the ground by the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year, and Miller has the potential to put up big numbers against a defense that ranks 22nd in rushing yards allowed, according to ESPN.
Even though he’s struggled to stay healthy all year long, Alshon Jeffery continues to shine as the Chicago Bears’ most reliable target. According to ESPN, Jeffery has seen at least 11 targets in all but one game this season. Jeffery only has 11 catches over his last two games, but he’s finished with 175 yards in those two contests, good enough for nearly 16 yards a catch. Jeffery is also averaging 11.3 fantasy points per game at home this year, and he’ll have a favorable matchup against a Washington Redskins defense that has allowed 22 passing touchdowns, which is tied for sixth-worst in the NFL. Jeffery has shown that he’s more than capable of putting up big numbers, and as the Bears’ No. 1 receiving option, look for him to get a healthy amount of targets on Sunday.
