Week 13 Outfield (OF) Waiver Wire Targets
Trey Mancini, 1B/OF, Baltimore Orioles (48% owned)
Mancini has collected 16 hits in his last 10 games, including home runs in each of the last two. Overall, his line checks in at a spectacular .321/.366/.589. It’s tough to imagine the average remaining that high, but Mancini is in a good situation and the power certainly appears legitimate.
Ian Happ, 2B/OF, Chicago Cubs (34%)
Happ roared out of the gate upon being promoted to the big leagues, then slumped badly. He’s back in the groove now, hitting .304/.368/.725 with eight homers in June. While you’d like to see fewer strikeouts, Happ is a 22-year-old with multi-position eligibility currently on what equates to a 40 HR pace over a full season. Pop isn’t as scarce as it used to be, but that’s still a package worth owning in more than a third of leagues.
Curtis Granderson, OF, New York Mets (24%)
With Michael Conforto afflicted by multiple physical ailments and a cold bat, the door is open for Terry Collins to resume not playing him. That’s only somewhat tongue in cheek, but Granderson is heating up after a terrible start to the year. He’s got a five-game hitting streak going, totaling 10 hits, three homers, and five walks in that time.
Bradley Zimmer, OF, Cleveland Indians (15%)
Listen. It’s only been 36 games, Zimmer has flaws, and outfield boasts impressive depth this season. But he’s hitting .293/.369/.485. He’s stolen seven bases in eight tries, popped four homers, and is managing decent run production despite hitting near the bottom of the lineup. That Zimmer is so widely available is absurd.
Michael Taylor, OF, Washington Nationals (8%)
There’s too many holes in his swing to ever expect a decent batting average, but Taylor has filled in admirably since Adam Eaton’s knee exploded. With a homer on Sunday, Taylor improved his season line to .273/.305/.517 with 11 bombs, seven steals, and 63 R+RBI in 62 games. Like Zimmer, his placement in the batting order hasn’t put too much of a damper on his run production, and he’s owned in even fewer leagues.
