Each week of the NFL season I will take a look at how to improve your fantasy football teams. Below I highlight wide receivers (WRs) and defenses (DEF) that need to be considered on the Week 11 waiver wire for your fantasy football teams. Some may have a good matchup for Week 11, or have been putting up relevant points and should be rostered.
This week will be slim pickings for waiver wire WR options so I'll recommending previously mentioned players and highlighting players to watch or pick up in very deep leagues. I will continue to be recommending defenses that are nice streamer choices based off the matchup. With that said, lets get to it
Here are the waiver recommendations this week by priority order:
Week 11 Waiver Wire Pickups – Wide Receivers (WR)
Mike Brown, WR, JAG - Waiver Wire Pickup
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues only (12+ teams Standard, PPR)
ANALYSIS: Last week, I mentioned that Justin Blackmon was suspended for the season. Due to this suspension, the 'next man up' is Mike Brown. While Brown did not have an opportunity to shine this week (the Jaguars were up the whole game, so they ran the clock through MJD!), you should expect to see him get targets in garbage time or when they are playing from behind. I also expect defenses to focus more on Cecil Shorts, which will leave Brown left with one-on-one coverage. If you are in a deeper league and are looking for WR depth, Brown might be a nice stash for you.
Leonard Hankerson, WR, ARZ - Waiver Wire Pickup
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues only (12+ teams PPR)
ANALYSIS: For the past two weeks, Hankerson has had five catches per week and 116 yards. While these aren't mind-blowing numbers, they are decent WR numbers in a PPR league. I am a bit concerned about his viability for long-term success, and I would only recommend Hankerson in the deepest of leagues as a bench player or bye-week consideration. He's nothing more than a desperation/what-the-heck choice.
Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, MIN - Waiver Wire Pickup
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues only (12+ teams Standard, PPR)
ANALYSIS: In Week 1 of this season, I mentioned that Patterson was going to be the new Percy Harvin on the Vikings. So far, he hasn't lived up to that, and Jerome Simpson has started longer than I anticipated. But this week Simpson was arrested with a DWI. While a suspension might be looming, this is an opportunity for Patterson to step up. The problem is that Minnesota has been a QB nightmare and Ponder has not been healthy. If Ponder starts and Simpson is suspended look to Patterson to step up and never look back. If you are in a shallow league, continue to monitor.
Previously Mentioned Players: Jarrett Boykin, WR; Doug Baldwin, WR, SEA; GB; Kenny Stills, WR, NO; Jericho Cotchery, WR, PIT
Honorable mention: Andre Roberts, WR, ARZ
Players I recommend beyond my rules (above 25% ownership or previously recommended). Add these WR players immediately if they somehow are available in your leagues (in priority order):
- T.Y. Hilton, WR, IND - Another solid week being the #1 guy...if he's available pick him up now!
- Josh Gordon, WR, CLE - Bye week
- Keenan Allen, WR, SD - Not very good week in week 10 but still a solid player
- Percy Harvin, WR, SEA - Sources say that he will start week 11. If he's on waivers...time to pick him up would be right now.
- Jarret Boykin, WR, GB - had a fantastic game this week even with James Jones back...look for him to keep it going
- Terrance Williams, WR, DAL - another week another td for Williams
- Harry Douglas, WR, ATL - Roddy White came back this week but Douglas still had a decent game with 7 catches
- Golden Tate, WR, SEA - had a fantastic week with over a 100 yrds and a td. He's finally playing to potential.
- Emmanuel Sanders, WR, PIT - had a disappointing week, value dipped a bit...but should increase vs Detroit's pass defense
- Doug Baldwin, WR, SEA - decent game with 5 catches and 76yrds this week. Value may dip when Harvin returns.
- DeAndre Hopkins, WR, HOU - Decent game with 6 catches and 69yrds. His only drawback is that td's do not come his way often.
- Michael Crabtree, WR, SF - Won't be back until late to mid Nov.
Week 11 Waiver Wire Pickups – Defenses (DEF)
Defense no brainer starts: Arizona (vs Jax), SEA (vs Min),
Green Bay, DEF - Waiver Wire Pickup
BALLER MOVE: Add in Standard Leagues (12+ teams)
ANALYSIS: For this coming week, Green Bay will be playing a NY Giants team that has given up the third-most points on the season to opposing defenses. Overall, the Giants have a -13 turnover ratio on the season and I expect that will not improve this coming week. To add to this conversation Green Bay has a healthy Clay Matthews that will provide pressure on Eli Manning all game. If you are looking for a streaming defense choice, Green Bay is a nice option.
Detroit, DEF - Waiver Wire Pickup
BALLER MOVE: Add in Standard Leagues (12+ teams)
ANALYSIS: Detroit will be playing a Pittsburgh Steeler offense which has given up the fifth-most points to opposing defenses. Pittsburgh has struggled this season with turnovers and has a -11 turnover ratio. While Pittsburgh has the potential to score points, I like Detroit's chances to have at least one or two interceptions. My hope is that one of those is a pick-six. If you are looking for a solid defense option Detroit could be one for you to consider (although I like Green Bay better).
Antrel Rolle, IDP - S, NYG - Waiver Wire Pickup
BALLER MOVE: Add in Standard Leagues (12+ teams IDP Leagues)
ANALYSIS: For the past four games, Antrel Rolle has had 31 total tackles, two sacks and two interceptions (averaging around eight tackles a game). This past week, Rolle had his best game of the season with 10 solo tackles and a sack. The two sacks on the season are a career-high for Rolle and I expect him to look to keep the solid streak going against Green Bay. If you are looking for a safety option to consider, Rolle would be a solid choice.
My Guidelines
1. I will not repeat waiver selections. All mentioned players prior to week 4 will apply to the current waiver options and going forward.
2. I will only recommend players that are lower than 25% ownership in Yahoo! or ESPN leagues.
