The football gods have made us all feel their wrath this season. If you play in a traditional season-long redraft league, the chances are high you've felt the sting of the injury bug (Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, David Johnson, Dalvin Cook, Julian Edelman, and on and on and on). Hopefully you've sought refuge in the daily fantasy world, which offers a clean, injury-free slate every week.
The goal of this weekly column is to help find the most profitable DFS stacks, while avoiding the duds. Stacking, or pairing multiple players from the same NFL team, is an ideal way to maximize your point production, which is crucial in larger GPP (guaranteed prize pool) tournaments.
Let's take a look at some of the top DFS stacks for Week 10, loosely sorted by salary.
High-Priced Week 10 DFS Stacks
Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger and WR Antonio Brown at Indianapolis
It shouldn't take much convincing to play Brown. He's arguably the most talented receiver in the NFL, but he's inarguably the most productive. Combine that with his high floor (he's been targeted at least nine times in every game this season) and he's an easy play week in and week out.
Sure, he's expensive, but he has two-touchdown upside against the Colts' 31st-ranked pass defense. If you want to save some money, roll with rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster, who has emerged as a solid fantasy option.
Atlanta QB Matt Ryan and WR Julio Jones vs. Dallas
Ryan hasn't been great this season. In fact, he's been a major disappointment, but he might be rounding into form. The reigning NFL MVP has passed for at least 250 yards and two touchdowns in his last two games. That trend could continue against the Cowboys' middling pass defense.
Jones is battling an ankle issue, so keep an eye on his status. If he sits out, roll with fellow wide receiver Mohamed Sanu or tight end Austin Hooper.
Detroit QB Matthew Stafford and WR Golden Tate vs. Cleveland
In case you haven't noticed, Stafford is piling up passing yards at a staggering pace. In his last three games, Stafford has thrown for 312, 423, and 361 yards, to go along with five touchdowns. That's fantasy gold.
Three of those touchdown passes have gone to Marvin Jones, who has established himself as Detroit's most dangerous deep threat. But Tate, who has seven catches for at least 80 yards over the last three games, is a nice contrarian pivot against the Browns' annually-beatable defense.
Moderately-Priced Week 10 DFS Stacks
Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff and WR Robert Woods vs. Houston
Goff was simply sensational in the Rams' Week 9 thrashing of the New York Giants, passing for 311 yards and four touchdowns. He could be in for another big play against the Texans, who have been shredded by Russell Wilson (452 yards, four TDs) and Jacoby Brissett (308 yards, two TDs) in the last two weeks.
Woods seems to have established himself as Goff's most reliable target, but if you're feeling bold, feel free to roll with Sammy Watkins or Tavon Austin and hope for a long touchdown.
Tennessee QB Marcus Mariota and TE Delanie Walker vs. Cincinnati
Let's call this one a bit of a hunch. The Bengals, at least statistically speaking, have actually been pretty solid against the pass this season. Mariota has only topped 300 yards once in his seven starts, but he just feels due for a breakout game.
Mariota finally has his full collection of weapons together (Walker, Rishard Matthews, Corey Davis, Eric Decker), so there should be some improvement in the Titans' 27th-ranked pass offense. Mariota isn't likely to be a popular DFS play this week, but he has some upside in this home matchup.
New York Jets QB Josh McCown and WR Robby Anderson at Tampa Bay
Are the 4-5 Jets the biggest surprise in the NFL this season? If not, they're certainly on the short list, considering many pundits predicted a winless season. McCown has routinely been one of the best DFS value plays, and he maintains that status this week against the Buccaneers' No. 30 pass defense.
Anderson has scored a touchdown in his last three games and seems like a decent bet to make it four straight. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, in a revenge game against his former team, is a nice contrarian option.
Bargain-Priced Week 10 DFS Stacks
Tampa Bay QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and WR DeSean Jackson at New York Jets
Instead of watching Jameis Winston tossing spirals to stud Mike Evans, Buccaneers fans will have to settle for veteran journeyman backup Fitzpatrick throwing to Jackson and tight end Cameron Brate.
Winston is injured and Evans is suspended, so the Jets catch a major break. For fantasy purposes, however, Tampa Bay should still be able to move the ball. Brate is the safer stack, but Jackson offers higher upside. For tournament lineups, roll with the higher upside.
New York Giants QB Eli Manning and WR Sterling Shepard at San Francisco
It's been an ugly season for the Giants (1-7), but it's been even uglier for the 49ers (0-9). Someone has to win this game, right? Who knows? If you're desperate for a cheap stack with touchdown upside, you could worse than Manning and Shepard.
You could certainly do better, but New York should be able to move the ball against San Francisco. Tight end Evan Engram is also an option here.
