Victor Vodnik is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for closers and saves in Week 19 (2024). Vodnik is a good free agent waiver wire add for saves leagues.

ANALYSIS: The Colorado Rockies have traded their top closer, left-hander Jalen Beeks, to the Pittsburgh Pirates. That should leave the door open for Victor Vodnik to inherit almost all of the save situations for the Rockies going forward.
Vodnik has already started to close some games for Colorado and was being used as part of a committee with Beeks. He's converted three straight saves and has been one of the most effective relievers for Colorado this season.
Have we entered the era of Victor Vodnik as the Rockies closer?

Vodnik has posted a 3.90 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through 55 innings pitched. He's struck out 50 hitters while walking 23 so far this season.
Vodnik's stats are a bit deceiving as he's been very good of late with a 2.51 ERA and 15 strikeouts in his last 12 appearances.
With closers in short supply this time of year, Vodnik should be added in all but the shallowest of leagues. Even if Colorado is a bad team, they are still going to create some save situations for Vodnik down the stretch.
