Stefon Diggs enjoyed a nice first season with the Houston Texans before he tore his ACL in Week 8. The veteran receiver was playing on a one-year deal and has yet to be signed by another team this offseason.
Diggs enters his age 31 season in 2025 and has shown some signs of decline in the last two years. Teams seem weary of signing a declining player working his way back from a serious knee injury.
This is certainly understandable, but there are still several teams who need receiver help. Signing Diggs shouldn't be too expensive, so it's possible someone will take a flyer on him and hope he can turn back the clock. Let's take a few minutes and examine several potential landing spots for free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Cleveland Browns
Cleveland could use help at wide receiver as Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman are currently their best options. Diggs' days as a true WR1 are likely over, but he could still function as a slot receiver and can get away with playing a little flanker if he's fully recovered from his knee injury.

The Browns could also select a quarterback in next month's NFL Draft. Diggs would provide any young signal-caller with a trusted veteran option. However, Diggs is known for causing behind-the-scenes drama. The current Browns regime needs to start winning games to keep their jobs. Adding a receiver like Diggs could be a powder keg waiting to explode if things go sideways. His attitude combined with his age and injury concerns could scare Cleveland and other potential suitors away.
New England Patriots
New England has said finding a WR1 is one of their top offseason priorities. So far, though, they have failed to sufficiently address the position. Diggs could operate as an effective slot receiver in Josh McDaniels' offense. This could be his best shot to re-emerge as a reliable fantasy football option.
Slot receivers have thrived in the past under McDaniels, and Diggs could see a resurgence with the Patriots. Getting to play his former team (The Buffalo Bills) twice a year could also motivate him to join New England.
However, new head coach Mike Vrabel has little patience for drama, and it's unclear how he and Diggs would clash if problems arise. Diggs is worth a gamble, but it's looking more and more likely that New England could draft Colorado star Travis Hunter to lead their receiving room in 2025.
Green Bay Packers
Green Bay is a team that desperately needs to find a WR1. While head coach Matt LaFleur may not want to hear that, the reality is that his wide receiver-by-committee approach failed in 2024. Star running back Josh Jacobs has also voiced his desire for the team to add an alpha to the receiver room.
“I think we need a guy that’s proven to be a #1 WR already.”

The Packers have yet to make any significant moves at receiver this offseason. They have talented young pass-catchers in Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, but neither is a true WR1. Perhaps they plan to further incorporate third-year tight end Tucker Kraft into the offense in the hope he supplies WR1 production.
There aren't many great options left in free agency. Diggs might be Green Bay's best chance at finding a potential difference-maker. However, Matt LaFleur can be very stubborn and might not abandon the committee approach at all. It's easy to envision a scenario where he and Diggs clash if the latter is not being targeted enough.
Still, signing Diggs would be a low-risk, high-reward type move that could solve one of Green Bay's biggest problems from last year.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers recently restructured Adam Thielen's contract to keep him with the team in 2025. His presence will help the offense, but this move won't stop them from adding another receiver.
While Bryce Young showed signs of life at the end of 2024, he still needs more weapons on offense. It's uncertain how much Diggs has left at this stage of his career, but he could be the missing piece to unlock the best version of Young.
However, Carolina already has one older receiver working primarily from the slot in Thielen, and they may not be in a hurry to add another in Diggs. That means it might be more likely that Carolina wants to get younger at the position and will find someone in next month's NFL Draft.
