DK Metcalf, Seahawks - Fantasy Football Outlook

Is Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf elite, or is he just an outstanding player? That is a difficult question to answer. Since finishing as the WR7 in 2020, Metcalf has finished as the WR14, 16, and 21 in each subsequent season since.

The 26-year-old finished last season with 66 catches, 1,114 yards, and eight touchdowns over 16 games in 2024. He has been a solid WR2 for the past few years, but his talent level suggests he could be much more. Geno Smith took a step back in 2023 due to injuries and a struggling offensive line.

With a coaching staff change, an improved offensive line, and an improved defense, a lot of pressure should be taken off of Smith and the offense. With former University of Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb taking over as the offensive coordinator in Seattle, this offense should exhibit more creativity and be more dynamic in 2024.

Smith is a capable starter who can support multiple wide receivers in fantasy, as evidenced by his 2022 season. Metcalf faces strong competition for targets from Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

While Metcalf may not be a perennial WR1, do not be surprised if he beats his current Yahoo ADP of WR19 and RotoBaller ranking of WR16. Metcalf should hang around WR15 as a steady contributor to your team.

- Quincy Milton, RotoBaller

Courtland Sutton, Broncos - Fantasy Football Outlook

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton finished 2022 with his best campaign since his 1,000-yard season in 2019, but he only managed to score two times for the second straight season.

In his second year working with Russell Wilson in 2023, Sutton had fewer catches (59) and receiving yards (772) in 16 games (14 starts), but he more than made up for it by being Wilson's go-to target in the red zone and finishing with a career-high 10 touchdowns.

It was the best the 28-year-old has looked since tearing his ACL in 2020. Jerry Jeudy is now gone, making Sutton the unquestioned WR1 in Denver. However, he'll be working with a new quarterback in 2024 and is likely to be hit hard with regression in the TD department.

Even with his 10 scores in 2023, Sutton finished as the WR30 in half-PPR leagues. Sutton is going to need more targets to offset the inevitable TD regression, but even more, targets may not make him a trustworthy WR3/flex on a weekly basis in offense with more question marks than answers

- Keith Hernandez, RotoBaller

Rome Odunze, Bears - Fantasy Football Outlook

Washington WR Rome Odunze was selected ninth overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft. He joins Caleb Williams, who came aboard first overall to be the signal-caller.

Odunze exploded for 1,640 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 92 receptions this past season at Washington and now rounds out an incredible WR trio alongside DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. There's also Cole Kmet at tight end and a capable receiver in D'Andre Swift at running back.

While Odunze boasts great talent and polish to his game, competing with all of those names as Williams gets up to speed in the NFL could create turbulence.

Luckily, new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron should give this Chicago roster more passing intent after a bottom-six Pass Rate Over Expectation (PROE) mark of -4.9% per NFELO.

He comes from the Rams, who just led the league in 11 personnel playcalling, and Odunze is scouted as a plus run-blocker. Three-wide sets may rule Chicago's playbook.

Odunze's redraft value is shaky due to an early ADP within the top 100 picks amidst his target competition. Still, his dynasty outlook next to Williams is bright, as Keenan Allen will be a free agent after 2024.

- Nick Mariano, RotoBaller

Darnell Mooney, Falcons - Fantasy Football Outlook

In the offseason, Darnell Mooney was traded to the Atlanta Falcons after previously spending the last four seasons with the Chicago Bears. Mooney will team up with Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Bijan Robinson on a team looking to revitalize its passing attack with newly added quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Mooney was a 1,000-yard receiver in 2021 but was phased out of a struggling Bears offense the last two seasons. His potential for high volume and big-play ability make him an intriguing option for managers looking to add depth and upside to their receiving corps.

Cousins has shown in previous years that he supplies valuable fantasy wide receivers, which could be an opportunity for the 26-year-old to rebirth his NFL career. Mooney should be viewed as a high-upside WR3/Flex option with the potential to emerge as a solid WR2, particularly in PPR formats.

In 2024, Mooney should be targeted in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts slightly ahead of ADP, entering the radar around Round 10. His early half-PPR ADP on Yahoo is 172, which is promising given the likelihood of a breakout due to his role in the Falcons' offense and the improvements at the quarterback position. If the offense clicks as expected, Mooney is locked in as Atlanta's WR2 and could be a significant fantasy contributor who can deliver big plays and consistent production.

- Justin Pottinger, RotoBaller
