What's up RotoBallers. In this column, I will be taking a look at the main card for UFC on Fox 29. My analysis will help you with your DraftKings MMA lineups. I will be keeping track based on picking winners and losers, starting fresh for 2018. I will also predict how the fight will be finished, but that will not reflect in the records (Justin's 2018 Record: 18-14).

MMA has one of the best sweats in DFS. Two fighters compete at a time with only one coming out as the winner. It's the best feeling in the world when you are watching the main event of a show and know you need a first round knockout to win the entire tournament. And nothing feels worse than when you need a first round knockout by Stipe Miocic to win thousands of dollars in a tournament, but when he lands that knockout punch, you realize that you placed 14th because Jacare Souza was too dominant in a previous fight. This was a serious scenario that I had to live through when Miocic won the Heavyweight Championship. Without anymore waiting, here are my DFS lineup picks and DraftKings analysis for the main card at UFC on Fox 29.

Michelle Waterson vs Cortney Casey

This is an interesting fight, as I believe each fighter has a clear path to victory. If Waterson can get this fight to the ground, she should be able to control Casey and ride out a decision. If Casey can keep this fight standing, she is a volume striker that should win a decision on that alone. While I feel Waterson is the better grappler, she will likely have a difficult time getting passed the length of Casey, who will utilize a jab to keep Waterson at a distance. I’m not overly confident in Casey, but I believe she has the skillset to win this fight.

Israel Adesanya vs Marvin Vettori

Adesanya had an impressive showing in his UFC debut, but that was not against elite level competition. While Vettori is not an elite fighter, he has faced better MMA competition. Adesanya, on the other hand, is an elite kickboxer, who has somewhat of an unknown MMA background. Essentially, this is your typical matchup of grappler versus striker. Adesanya showed enough takedown defense to believe he can keep this fight standing. If that’s the case, Adesanya has a distinct advantage, and he should be able to win in another impressive fashion.

Carlos Condit vs Alex Oliveira

Condit is a shell of his former self, winning only two fights since 2012. Those fights were against Martin Kampmann and Thiago Alves in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He gets a matchup against Oliveira, who has won seven fights since 2015 alone. This fight comes down to one thing for me – grappling. Condit has proven time and time again that he does not care if he continuously gets taken down, and I believe that is what Oliveira is going to do in this fight. Oliveira has the better grappling, and unless he opts to give up, which he has down before, this should be his fight to lose.

Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje

This has Fight of the Night written all over it. Both fighters love fearlessly striking with tremendous heart. Outside of a quick knockout by Michael Johnson, Poirier has not lost since 2014 in a fight against Conor McGregor. Gaethje is coming off a loss against Eddie Alvarez, but it is tough to imagine that his striking would not have knocked out roughly 95% of fighters in the UFC. Poirier is the much more technical striker, but this fight will likely turn into a brawl fairly quickly. This fight truly is a toss up, but I feel Poirier is a slightly smarter fighter, giving him a slight edge over Gaethje.
