Analysis: With Will Smith and Jeremy Jeffress on new rosters thanks to the Milwaukee Brewers' active trade deadline, Tyler Thornburg has been the new go-to guy for the 9th inning in Milwaukee. Thornburg has a 2.12 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, is allowing a career-low 2.7 BB/9, is producing a career-high 12.3 K/9, and is only allowing 5.4 Hits/9. In 22.1 IP in April and May, he had a 3.22 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. Pretty good. In his last 24.1 IP, he has been absolutely untouchable. He has a 1.11 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, with just 2.59 BB/9, an impressive 12.21 K/9, and has earned two saves in his last four appearances. The Brewers may not be a consistently winning team, but Tyler Thornburg has been on fire for the last three months, and after taking the wheel as the Milwaukee closer, he can earn saves at a nice clip.
