ANALYSIS: Jeremy Jeffress was traded to the Rangers, and Will Smith was traded to the Giants today. Tyler Thornburg is now the favorite to be the new closer for the Brewers, and should be added in all leagues that count saves. You can see our full MLB closers & saves depth charts updated here.
Thornburg has very solid numbers on the year, posting a 2.32 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with a 59:14 K:BB ratio over 42 2/3 innings pitched. He's also racked up 20 holds on the year, which is nothing to sneeze at. Needless to say, he's been a rock out of that bullpen - and should be soaking up the save opportunities moving forward.
Thornburg is still available on most waiver wires, so go ahead and add him if your league counts saves - or put in a modest bid with your FAAB budget. He can be a sneaky source of saves down the homestretch for fantasy owners.
