BALLER MOVE: Sit in All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: TE23
ANALYSIS: New York Jets tight end Tyler Conklin was a deep sleeper candidate entering the season. The veteran tight end had 87 targets last year, the third-most on the team, behind Garrett Wilson (168) and Breece Hall (95). Some thought Conklin could have a career season with Aaron Rodgers under center.
However, he has struggled to start the year. Conklin is the TE48 over the first two weeks, totaling 2.6 half-point PPR fantasy points. The veteran has had one reception on two targets for under 11 receiving yards in both games. Yet, he has been one of the top route runners at the tight end position. Conklin had the fourth-highest route participation among tight ends in Week 2.
Week 2 TE route participation leaders:
96% - Cade Otton
90% - Travis Kelce
88% - Hunter Henry
85% - Tyler Conklin
84% - Zach Ertz
84% - Johnny Mundt
82% - Sam LaPorta
81% - Trey McBride
77% - Hayden Hurst
75% - Mark Andrews
75% - Colby Parkinson
75% - Dalton Kincaid
74% - Dalton…— Jacob Gibbs (@jagibbs_23) September 16, 2024
While it’s nice to see the veteran get his cardio workout done during NFL games, fantasy players have no reason to play Conklin in Week 3 against the New England Patriots. The Patriots have held tight ends to six receptions for 50 receiving yards and six fantasy points this season.
