ANALYSIS: While Tyler Conklin has been the walking, living, breathing definition of "bouncy asset" through the first half of the season. It is also very true that the TE position is thin as hell and that it forces you to make the toughest and wildest decisions in the fantasy realm. Let alone ahead of the heavy-bye week we're entering with six teams off the schedule.
Conklin put up monster numbers against the Patriots on Sunday and his 25.9 PPR points were among the 10-best performances of the season through Week 8 by a tight end. Not bad, was it? Conklin reached that tally by catching 6 of 10 targets for 79 yards... and two touchdowns on the day!
Those were, by the way, his first two scores of the year after hitting paydirt on Week 1. The tight end had a couple of TE1 finishes in his resume this season with such levels of play showcased back in W1 and W3, but he'd fluctuated in the weekly rankings between three top-20 finishes, one in the 40s, and once completely off the picture (TE67 going 0-of-1 in W5).
With the byes hitting harder than ever this week and not quite an abundance of freely-available options at the position, Conklin might not be the worst one-week-flier to take for needy GMs out there having to deal with some tight-end headaches. The Jets will need to bomb passes away against the Bills, so you can at least count on some volume of passes going to all of the team's pass-catchers.
