BALLER MOVE: Sit in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR4
ANALYSIS: Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd had little expectations this year, with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins healthy. However, the Bengals have struggled to keep both players on the field, as Higgins has missed multiple games this season. Unfortunately, the team won’t have the star wide receiver on Sunday for the third consecutive game.
Therefore, Boyd will have an increased target share. However, he hasn’t done much with his expanded role this year. The veteran is the WR48 for the season, averaging eight half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has 47 receptions on 67 targets for 439 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2023. Furthermore, Boyd won’t have his franchise quarterback on Sunday.
Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury in the Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The veteran wide receiver had only three receptions on six targets for 22 receiving yards against the division rivals. Furthermore, he has scored fewer than 8.3 fantasy points in 70% of the games this year, including two of the past three matchups.
While the Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled to slow down wide receivers this season, fantasy players should avoid starting Boyd this week. The Bengals will likely limit how much Jake Browning has to do against an elite pass-rush unit. Therefore, expect limited targets for the veteran wide receiver.
