ANALYSIS: The New York Jets were without running back Michael Carter in Week 13 and deployed a running-back-by-committee approach at the position against the Minnesota Vikings.
Zonovan Knight led the way for New York by totaling 15 carries and five targets, while Ty Johnson was the pass-down back and tallied seven targets with a single rushing attempt. James Robinson mixed in with just four total touches.
Johnson has now totaled 15 opportunities since Carter went down with an injury in Week 12. His fantasy viability will remain tied to Carter's injury status.
The rookie Knight has been the clear lead back in Carter's absence, but Johnson's role in the passing game appears to be solid, as Mike White's insertion as NY's starting QB means plenty of check-downs will occur. He's now posted 119 total yards and a score across the Jets' last two games.
Johnson's pass-catching role in this timeshare backfield is just enough to put him on our fantasy radars. Those in deeper PPR leagues can give the Jets back a look as a dart FLEX play. However, Johnson's fantasy value will plummet when/if Michael Carter returns to the lineup.
