Week 14 Streamers Under 50% Owned
Junior Guerra, MIL (49% owned)
Probable opponents: vs. MIN, vs. ATL
To have a streaming pitcher flirt with a sub-three ERA is a good place to start for our Week 14 list. If not for a four earned run performance in his last start, Guerra’s ERA would be below three. Guerra has allowed three earned runs, or less, in eight of the last nine appearances. He’s also struck out at least six batters in three consecutive outings. He’ll get two starts at home in Week 14. This season, Guerra is 1-3 at Miller Park, but has a 2.94 ERA (3.21 ERA on the road) and has tallied 52 strikeouts in 49 innings of work.
Andrew Heaney, LAA (43% owned)
Probable opponents: @ SEA, vs. LAD
This boom-or-bust option has been spectacular at times (1 ER, 10 K) and dreadful (4.1 IP, 7 ER). That’s also the life of a streaming starting pitcher. Heaney has allowed three earned runs, or less, in three of the last five games. However, he’s also allowed five earned runs, or more, in three of the last six starts. Heaney had a rough outing against the Mariners on June 11th: 3 IP, 5 ER, and 2 K. Unfortunately, he returns to Seattle in Week 14. The matchups will be difficult. Both the Mariners and Dodgers are decent against left-handed pitchers and they don’t strike out often.
Jake Odorizzi, MIN (42% owned)
Probable opponents: @ MIL, vs. BAL
I think I can do a better job selling Odorizzi than I could for Heaney. The Twins pitcher was stellar in his last outing (6 IP, 0 ER, and 8 K @ CWS). While that wasn’t against a team he’s facing this week, Odorizzi has already seen the Brewers and Orioles in 2018. In both combined starts, Odorizzi has allowed one earned run in 11.2 innings and punched out 17 batters in the process. Milwaukee and Baltimore are both in the top ten in regards to team strikeouts in 2018. The Orioles are also 27th in team wOBA (.297) against right-handed pitchers this year.
Under 25% Owned
Anibal Sanchez, ATL (23% owned)
Probable opponents: @ NYY, @ MIL
Sanchez is enjoying life back in the National League. This year, with the Braves, he owns a 2.68 ERA and has tallied 44 strikeouts in 47 innings of work. Speaking of strikeouts, he’s produced at least five punch outs in five straight games. Sanchez has also allowed two earned runs or less, in four of the past five appearances. On the down side, Sanchez has to pitch in two hitter-friendly parks this week. However, both the Yankees and Brewers are in the top 12 of team strikeouts this season.
Alex Cobb, BAL (16% owned)
Probable opponents: @ PHI, @ MIN
Like Heaney, Cobb is another boom-or-bust option. He’s allowed only one earned run in two of the past five games. However, in the other three starts, opponents produced at least five earned runs in each contest. On the bright side, Cobb has compiled at least five strikeouts in four of the past five appearances. Also, the Phillies are fourth in team strikeouts this year (769).
Nathan Eovaldi, TB (8% owned)
Probable opponents: @ MIA, @ NYM
I might’ve saved the best for last in this week’s streaming article. Eovaldi is only owned in eight percent of fantasy baseball leagues and he shut down the Nationals in his last outing (6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, and 9 K). He’s now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive appearances. While earned runs have been an issue for Eovaldi this year (he’s allowed three earned runs, or more, in four of the past five games), both the Marlins and Mets are in the bottom five in regards to run producing offenses. The Mets are 26th (312 runs in 79 games) and the Marlins are 28th (304 runs in 83 games).
